Asbestos

IMAP auditors survey an organization’s piping, equipment, buildings and structural systems for the purpose of identifying the existence of asbestos containing materials (ACM). A detailed survey of the mechanical insulation, fireproofing and building systems includes, sampling, tagging, labelling and documenting where asbestos exists.

IMAP auditors are knowledgeable, experienced, competent professionals trained in the use of the IMAP software and the provincial Regulations respecting Asbestos on Construction Projects and in Buildings and Repair Operations that apply to the work, and who know of all potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work.

What does an Asbestos Auditor do?

  • Conduct audits on equipment, piping, structures and buildings

  • Uses sample point system for sampling of materials

  • Collects and submits samples to an accredited laboratory for analysis

  • Identifies all equipment, piping, structures and buildings with asbestos or non-asbestos identification system

  • Marks-up P&ID’s/drawings to identify the existence of asbestos or non-asbestos segments within your facility

  • Prepares a record containing condition, location, comments, lab results, audit details, drawings, and photos into IMAP's electronic asbestos management software

Provincial legislations require that all businesses aware of the existence of asbestos within their facilities must have an asbestos management program in place.  IMAP Audits Inc. developed a systematic approach to meet this need. Using IMAP’s leading edge technology, audits are conducted to identify where asbestos exists and the physical condition of these asbestos systems.  Results of the audit are tracked using IMAP’s leading edge software by integrating sample results into engineer’s drawings and plant isometrics and incorporating digital imaging for ease of identification.  These records become an invaluable risk management tool.  By identifying where asbestos exists, prioritizing maintenance requirements, abatement priorities, and how to approach repairs if asbestos exists, increases plant safety and reduces business risk exponentially
